As a boy, he dreamed of a career as a famous football player, Magi enrolled in a cooking school, and then he got acquainted with this job. Cooking first showed him that every beginning is difficult, and then a creative and crazy job opened up in front of him that he wouldn’t trade for anything in the world today.
He gained experience throughout the domestic and international world of restaurants, which will form his culinary philosophy. He got to know the tradition in good old Belgrade cuisine (Dušanov grad, Vojvodina), new trends in Diners restaurants, Tribeka. As an already formed boss, he gave his creative stamp to brands such as Jerry in Belgrade or Hotel Gray on Kopaonik.
He believes that a great chef must have a streak of madness in him. The one who follows the known paths will always remain within the framework of the standard. The kitchen master is looking for a challenge and that’s why he pushes the boundaries.
He says there is something that unites restaurant guests all over the world. It is the love of food. French, Chinese, Libyan or our cuisine are very different, but each of them is driven by the same need for a gourmet experience.
Today, it summarizes its philosophy in 3 important postulates: quality, simplicity, local touch. It brings exactly that to the Prime restaurant. They believe in traditional home cooking, but raised to a higher level, dressed in modern packaging.
He follows the changes, he says that even the chef changes from day to day. He constantly learns anew and tries new things, and is inspired by his guests – those who follow his work and want to get something new, as well as those who will just get to know Prime’s cuisine and then remain loyal to it.
Even as a child, in his native Srem, he met the art of making great sweets and that’s how love at first sight was born. And for life.
He started making sweet things in his native Golubinci in the pastry shop Maestro Nikola. As his knowledge grew, and with it his self-confidence, he continued his career in one of the most famous pastry shops in Belgrade, Mali Princ.
He built up his rich experience in a whole series of good places. As a pastry chef, he worked at the Mama Shelter Hotel, at the first Serbian chocolate factory, and then at the Gorski Hotel on Kopaonik. Today, his sweets are enjoyed by guests of the Crowne Plaza, Indigo and Radisson Collection hotels.
He did not regret sharing his knowledge with others. Many viewers of TV programs and channels on social networks got to know and try Peter’s sweets through the author’s show Sa slatkim na ti.
Petar believes that skill, love and creativity are important for a good cake. Art is the skill we have in our hands, love is the spice and driving force without which nothing in life succeeds, and creativity enters the scene to get us out of trouble, at a time when an ingredient is missing, or we are looking for a replacement, or we simply want to create better, or a new candy.
Petar says that he still remains faithful to his profession. He is currently working on several projects in collaboration with colleagues. He seeks challenges and improves himself. He likes to innovate and compete with himself, because that’s how he gets the best out of himself. And he likes to share knowledge with younger colleagues, because he says that it gives him the drive to go further and to push the boundaries in confectionery in our country.
